Background

DealValidator.com is a web application that allows you to quickly see if a product/price combination is a good deal or not. After entering a product and a price, DealValidator.com scours the Internet to find that products going price, reviews, and its relative demand. It then, calculates a "Deal Score" based on that information. The higher the score, the better the deal!

Unlike other "deal" sites, which require peer-review of deal or simple price-to-price comparison, DealValidator takes much more into account, automatically.
DealValidator is basically an automation of what I've personally have done for years, when searching for deals. I look at three things: 1) a product's price compared to other retailers, 2) the product's reviews, and the product's demand.

Each of the three components has a relative value to the overall deal. First and foremost is price. If a product is 75% off, regardless of its reviews or demand it is probably a good deal. Additionally, a product which has good reviews and is still in demand will score higher than one that is not.

The real inspiration for the site was the "mobile-ability" of the tool. DealValidator's mobile site provides a very powerful tool for mobile phones. Unlike sitting at a PC, researching reviews and prices multiple sites on a mobile phone takes tremendous bandwidth and time. DealValidator Mobile fundamentally does all of the research for you in one click. This allows you to make extremely educated purchasing decisions while in a brick-and-morter store, all for about 20k of bandwidth.
